This 26-unit project in Royal Oak, Michigan provides a new housing option for those desiring a walkable, culturally rich urban lifestyle in this vibrant Detroit suburb. As architect and designer, KOO designed these large, loft-style condominium units to be modern — but with warm, rich woods, greenery, and glass along ample exterior space. Large windows bring in ample natural light and a luxurious natural palette creates a warm, airy refuge. As a block-long site, we avoided the potential issue of a repetitive massing by breaking the shape down into multiple volumes that bridge the higher density commercial street with the lower density residential neighborhood abutting the site.
