KOO provided Chicago Public Schools with Conceptual Design services to renovate the historic Sumner Elementary School and its adjacent annex building. The program included a standard elementary school program with additional specialized art and science spaces, totalling approximately 130,000SF. KOO’s solution utilizes a winter garden that connects the two buildings, providing a new identity for the school and a unique learning space to support an environmental science curriculum.
